2024 Monthly Chamber Newsletter: November Edition

November 1, 2024

Good Morning!

First I want to start off by saying thank you to everyone who came out to the 2024 Harvest Festival on October 19th. We had a great turnout for the event, and have heard many positive comments from the community about the event. I’d also like to personally thank my many volunteers for the event: Tori Gravlee, Betty Orange, Andrew Sheffield, Ray Spooner, Sarah Avery, David Maxwell, Bradley Grantham, Truette Johnson, Raymond Wilson, Chamber Board, City of Donalsonville, Public Works, Dept., Donalsonville Police Dept., and any other volunteers who helped make this event go as smoothly as possible!

Now that the festival is over, we have many more events in the works, starting with the UGA Small Business Development Center class, Start Strong: Small Business Best Practices for 2025. The Chamber is partnering with the Downtown Development Authority and the Economic Development Authority to present the class at the Lions Hall on November 18th. Best practices to be addressed include those for: social media, AI technologies, managing business finances, and developing relationships with lenders. By the end of this course, participants will have a list of action items to increase sales, better understand their financials, and drive business success in 2025. The class is $39 or $15 for the first 25 people to register with code. Registration is required, and details for registration are provided in the flyer on page 3 of this newsletter!

November 11th is the Annual Veterans Day Parade, with the Parade beginning at 9:45 am on 2nd Street, leading to a 10 am celebration service at the Courthouse. We will resume our quarterly Business After Hours on December 12th, with more details coming soon. We are also in the beginning stages of planning for our annual Chamber Member Banquet, which is set for Thursday, January 30th, 2025. The event will once again be catered by Gay’s Seafood. More details regarding the Chamber banquet will be announced soon. Planning for the 2025 Boots & Roots Rodeo will begin this month as well. The date for the rodeo is set for April 25-26, 2025. If you are interested in participating in the rodeo as a sponsor, vendor, or volunteer, feel free to reach out!

Not only is the Chamber in our busy season, so is everyone else! Coming up in November is the DDA’s Annual Car Show, the 4-H Produce fundraiser, Iron City Christmas Golf Cart Parade, and Thanksgiving! December is looking to be just as eventful starting with the SCES Lion King play and the Spirit of Christmas Parade, and many other community events! If you have any questions regarding the Chamber, let me know! I would be glad to answer any questions! Thank you and have a great day!
